I sleep among ink stains and ashes
A ciggarette burnt a hole in the fabric
Long before my addiction took hold
But it keeps me warm when I'm cold
Comforting and familiar, I create a lock
Out of thin air and nothing more
The racid taste is no longer so bad
The flavor lingers even after it's gone
It overwelms me, consumes me
It's a miracle no one knows
I put out fire the moment I hear something
Wishing I didn't have to hide away
I wish I didn't have pretend anymore
The secrets and lies by omission
Make me tired and feel alone
Like no one really knows who I am
I wrap myself in the smokes covering
Relishing in the familiar feelings
It's something stable in a hectic world
Nothing stays the same but the taste
It sends shivers down my spine
Sometimes my legs refuse to hold my weight
The weight I carry is too much to bear
The taste helps remove the burden
