Edward waited until he was out of the woods before he allowed the waves of pain to overtake him. Leaning against the nearest tree, he couldn't move; the pain was immobilizing.
The image of Bella's pained face flashed in his mind's eye. He knew that he would never be able forget that face -- that beautiful beloved face in stark pain and confusion that he had cruelly inflicted. She found it hard to grasps what he was saying, because she simply did not want the cold words to be true. They had broken her heart.
It had broken his heart, too.

Alice watched, knowing that the couple couldn't see her. She knew Edward's words were lies, falling out of his mouth as if he had practiced them again and again.
And he had.
Edward was out of the woods the moment he could tear himself away from Bella. Bella ran to after him to no avail before crumpling on the ground, her pain too great. Alice watched her for hours, making sure no one hurt her. When the stench reached her nose, she gave Bella a fleeting glance and ran from the cruel odor, hoping the monster wouldn't hurt her friend.
Title: Cravings

Rating: PG
Characers/Pairings: James/Victoria
Warnings: none

James and Victoria feasted on the life giving crimson liquid on the edge of the woods. The man and woman had never even gotten out of the woods before the two vampires had pounced.
The pair was attractive. Their smiles had been ripped from their faces and transformed into expressions of pure terror when their attackers' iron grips had ascended about them. They had tried to fight, increasing both the predators' satisfaction over the kill. The blood was infused with terror, making it taste sweeter and stronger.
Their cravings were satisfied for the moment, so they continued on their way.
