"You shouldn't be cooking," Yuki said. He shot Kyo a dirty look before he sat down.

"I like cooking," Tohru stated happily.

"Happy Birthday, Tohru!" Kisa's sweet voice called as she and Hiro bounded in the kitchen unannounced. Rin, Haru, Momiji, and the rest of the Sohma family (excluding Akito and Kureno) followed.

A chorus of happy birthdays rang out to Tohru, making her feel happy. Shigure came into the kitchen a moment later. "Happy Birthday, Tohru," he greeted her warmly, ignoring the others.

As Tohru busied herself with preparing extra food for their guests, she could only smile happily.

Title: Christmas with the Sohmas
Words: 100
Challenge: #92 - Christmas (table)
Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Tohru and essembly
Warnings: none

Christmas at the Sohma household was unlike any other. Instead of the small family gathering she had with her mother, most of the Sohma family was gathered, basking in the happiness of the season and the simple joys.

The Sohma family may not have been perfect, but no family was nor would Tohru want them to be any different than they were.

They were content to just be together. As the decorated the tree, Kyo and Yuki were up to their normal fighting and bickering and Haru lifted Kisa up so she could place the star on the tree top.

Title: Unforgivable
Words: 100
Challenge: #96 - writer's choice (unforgivable) (table)
Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Haru; mentions of Tohru, Kisa, Yuki, and Rin
Warnings: spoilers for the introduction of Haru and beyond
Author's Notes: Comments are more than welcome!

When Haru was overcome by his dark side, he hated Tohru for being the one to get Kisa to speak again. Not only did she get Kisa to talk, she got Rin to allow her to visit her in the hospital. Then, to top it all off, she got to be with Yuki every day. Morning, noon and night if necessary.

Her closeness and almost immediate welcome into the Sohma family was unforgivable.

Whenever his dark instincts subsided, he knew that it wasn't her fault. That, in the end, was her undoing. She was accidentally too good to be true.

In the twilight's dim light, she was breathtakingly beautiful. She was bathed in the dim light of the fading day and Haru felt like she was ripped from his memories. Her skin was glowing, and her face was full of an expression that he just couldn't name. All he knew was that it was more beautiful each time he saw it. And he saw it often, too, since he always was watching her, waiting the shadows just to catch a glimpse of her when she let her guard down. She was enchanting.

Rin was the only reason he was breathing.

Mine would do anything for Ayame. Yuki was so fortunate to have Ayame for a brother. She really couldn't understand why Yuki wouldn't try. He was the most extraordinary man. Mine loved him. She really loved him.

She knew that her loyalty and affection for the enthusiastic shop owner ran deeper than her being just her boss. She longed to look into his gold eyes and see reciprocated feelings. But she never did. Some nights, as she was laying in bed, she wished she could make him feel the same way.

Mine was too plain to be loved by Ayame.

Loving Tohru wasn't easy. Her joyous nature was easy to love, but she was fragile. He could hurt her so easily. Not physically, but emotionally. He'd never allow himself to hurt her physically, but he couldn't help it if he hurt her with cold words and temperamental attitude. It was who he was.

When her hand was in his, he felt alive. He felt complete. No one else in the world made him feel that way. Most people who were close to him made him feel worthless and unwanted. She accepted the monster within him.

And Kyo Sohma loved her.

Looking at his eyes, Machi couldn't see anything else. They were beautiful and forgiving. Purple in color, they were unique.

Purple fits him, she decided with a certain amount of confidence. Purple is the color of royalty, and he's royalty.

She could get lost in those eyes. They were so different than other people's. When she looked in other people's eyes, they were accusing. He couldn't be for real. He just couldn't.

Those sincere eyes – those royal eyes –

No! she screamed at herself, tearing her eyes away from his for a moment. Don't think like that. He's not real.
