Regret hung in the air; the room caught in suspended animation filled with remorse. No one moved; no one dared to breathe.
His whispers of "I'm sorry" fill the silence suddenly. Despite the flames licking her every inch of her body in pure agony, she could realized if he could, he'd be crying.
He'd be crying for her. Mourning her.
The feelings that lingered in the heavy air made her heart hurt, matching the pain in her body.
His touch was cold as he reached over and picked up her hand.
He regretted what he did and it had barely begun.

James watched has Victoria attacked her prey without mercy, without remorse at what she was doing or going to do. She never second-guessed herself.
Her strategy was sound; her movements were lithe and deft as she took down her victim. Her flawless face was alight with a sadistic joy, taking pleasure in the pain of another as well as the promise of the kill.
The metallic smell of blood filled the air as she began to feast greedily. James felt a carnal desire and passion for the woman in front of her, the woman he loved despite their damned status.
