I like the idea of your beliefs controlling where you go when you die. So IF you believe, then you to heaven/hell. Not that they're already inevitable. But everyone believe in something or would like to believe in something, so everyone ends up somewhere. If not that, then the people who are left behind put them somewhere according to their beliefs.
